Author: TONY CARRIZALES, ANNE ZAHRADNIK AND MICHELLE SILVERIO
Published in PAQ, Vol. 40 No. 1

Cultural competency initiatives in the public sector continue to grow, from programming efforts to organizational policy implementation. These initiatives build off decades of similar experiences and practices in associated fields of public administration. This study reviews existing advocacy in health care, social work, and other public sector organizations. Specifically, the study reviews public service academies, associations, honor societies and accrediting body practices that, by example, can help by informing, guiding and advocating cultural competency initiatives in public administration. Future implications and opportunities are explored and presented.
